Cameron knew he had to think fast. A single word from Sophia, any sort of gesture that she knew him, would mean both their lives. In a split second, Cameron made a decision.
But he knew it wasn't going to be pretty.
He stormed up to Marco and grabbed Sophia out of his grasp. "What the hell, Marco? Is this a cop?"
Cameron pushed Sophia, probably a little rougher than necessary, face-first up against the warehouse wall. He heard her indrawn breath, but steeled himself against any thought of her pain or fear.
It was going to get much worse.
Cameron kept his hand pressed against Sophia's back, keeping her forced against the wall. Behind him he heard Fin and the other guys draw their weapons.
He willed Sophia to keep quiet.
Marco, a little shocked by Cameron's aggressive behavior, stuttered, "I just found her inside. She said she was an artist and was taking pictures of the warehouse."
"Did you check to see if she was wearing a wire or anything?" Cameron demanded.
Marco looked sheepish and shook his head. Cameron made a big show of running his hands all over Sophia's body, as if looking for surveillance equipment. Behind him the guys made a couple of catcalls. Sophia shuddered.
When his body search led to her hands, he could feel Sophia press some sort of card into his palm--he wasn't sure what. He moved so he more clearly blocked her from Fin and the men's view, and palmed whatever she had given him without looking at it. As he turned, he slipped it into the pocket of his jeans.
"She's clean," Cameron said as he spun her around. Sophia attempted to straighten the clothes Cameron had lifted and moved during his search, her face burning.
"Listen..." Sophia began.
Cameron backhanded her.
Oh, God. He pulled the slap as much as he could without making it obvious, but he knew it still had to hurt. Her head flew to the side. He watched as a bit of blood began to ooze from a split in her lip. Cameron thought he might vomit.
But if she had said his name, they would both be dead, or at the very least his undercover work would be blown. He couldn't take the chance.
He stuck his finger in her face. "You shut the hell up unless I ask you a specific question, got it?"
Cameron prayed like he had never prayed before that Sophia would keep quiet. He felt a bit of relief when she nodded slowly, staring at the ground.
"Whoa, Cam. I didn't think you had that in you." Fin chuckled.

This one is a real winner for romantic suspense
By Charlene the Stickler
This is the second book I've read by Janie Crouch, and it's every bit as good as the first, which is saying a lot.
This romantic suspense had me when the characters were introduced: they were believable and I wanted to get to know them and to follow their story. Cam Cameron had been deep undercover in a group called DS-13 for nearly five years and he was just about to make a deal that would propel him to meet higher leadership in the group of criminals. His mission was nearly ended before it began when the woman he left behind five years before showed up at the abandoned warehouse and walked from her innocence and safety into life-threatening danger. Sophia Reardon's quick wits and her tentative trust in Cam, whom she has just witnessed taking part in something illegal, save them both from being killed. DS-13 had just stepped across the line from being really bad criminals into something more treasonous.
INFILTRATION is a quick-paced blend of suspense and reawakening romance, with a lot of emphasis on the Omega Sector's operatives and their target enemies. There is a tough balance to maintain for Cam to keep Sophia alive and to achieve his goals. Sophia is roughed up in the process and there is the added problem of discovering how many people have infiltrated DS-13. Were there good guys in league with these bad guys?
Who could Cam trust beyond his brothers? This book stands very well on its own, and it is also the first in a series about Omega Sector by Janie Crouch. From the tiny bits about Cam's two brothers and one sister, I would welcome reading any sequels that feature them or other agents like Cameron.
While there is believable cruelty and evil in this book, the author does not describe it in gory detail. Likewise, although there is a romantic element, the reader is left to her or his own imagination concerning the details.
If you have read PRIMAL INSTINCT, Crouch's first book, you will want to read this well-written book that goes in a different direction. If you are looking for a good read in the romantic suspense genre, you can't go wrong with this one. I finished it in one sitting and now I have to wait to read the next installment in Omega Sector. I also understand that the author has plans for a sequel to her first book. Some good resolutions I can keep for reading in 2015!

A fun and sexy read
By Chantel DiMuzio
Not typically my genre of books, I decided to give this a try as I was searching for something simple to keep me entertained for the brief periods of time I actually have to read each day. Straight forward and true to the series' reputation, don't expect a lot of deep plot or thought provoking character development. The plot is very simple-- the hero, Cameron, is an under cover agent with a top secret crime fighting organization (Omega). He is working to dismantle an organized crime group (DS-13) who have gotten their hands on some ground breaking technology that could allow terrorist organizations to cripple government operations. All is going well in his plan to bring down the bad guys and avenge his partner's death until his ex girlfriend, Sophia, accidentally stumbles into the path of DS-13's plans. Cameron finds himself torn between saving the world and saving Sophia's life. The beauty of Harlequin is the plot is secondary to romance, and Janie Crouch does not fail to build the heat and passion readers expect between her lead characters. The novel's first half captures a fantastic degree of sexual tension that kept me wanting more. Unfortunately Crouch jumps the gun a little too quickly in bringing Sophia and Cameron together, and the reader is left a little cold in the second half of the book. I would have liked to have seen the "intrigue" last longer between the characters.
Overall if you are seeking a fun, sexy read you will not be disappointed. Looking forward to seeing what Crouch comes up with next in this series.

A MUST READ!
By Books And Spoons
Original review posted at booksandspoons.weebly.com/book-blog
From the page one Infiltrator pulled me into the dark, edgy, and dangerous undercover world. The author's storytelling gifts comes out in the captivating, additively smooth flow of the tale, with humorous and witty dialog bits, that makes you laugh out loud, when you least expect it.
The fierce, energetic action kept its hold on me. The encounters with the criminal group, DS-13, are sharp and intense. The kind of confrontations that has gut-wrenching effect, and makes you bite your nails off.
The romance between Sofia and Cameron is at times so sweet and tender, while their attraction and passion for each other is distinct and scorching. So many swoon worthy moments in the story, that made me smile, and are just adorable!
The Bronson siblings are entertaining and boisterous. I can't wait for the rest of the series to come out, and read their stories.
Smart, charming, and delightful characters, with the edge-of-your-seat action
