About the Author
C.S. Challinor was born in Bloomington, Indiana, and was educated in Scotland (St. George's School for Girls, Edinburgh) and England (Lewes Priory, Sussex; University of Kent, Canterbury: Joint Hons Latin & French). She now resides in Southwest Florida. Her short stories have been published in women’s magazines in the United States and the United Kingdom. Challinor is a member of the Authors Guild, New York, and is the author of the Rex Graves cozy mystery series featuring Rex Graves, Scottish barrister-sleuth. Rex Graves titles are available in trade paperback and Kindle, Nook, etc. CHRISTMAS IS MURDER, the first in the series, is also available in LP hardcover (Thorndike Reviewer's Choice). Unbelievable

Rec Graves may be a QC, but he is also a busybody. At least in the other book I read, he did have a good reason to be involved in the murder investigation, but not this one. It's his "hobby" more or less and then he almost blows it. Also, I don't think he truly wants to marry Helen because this engagement goes on and on, and if they were married that might spoil his fun of solving the mysteries himself or he'd have to share the credit with her. She does seem to indulge him in this "hobby". I don't think I will be reading anymore of these books.

Rex again solves a truly intriguing mystery!

Rex Graves again shows why he' s the man. This novella is a treat, showing the Scottish judge in his best light, as an astute, curious, leave no stone unturned sleuth. The story weaves and bobs, leaving the reader to guess until the very end. It continues Challinor' s climb to be considered one of the best female authors of the crime novel.
I have read all of her books and believe you should also. She writes clever stuff and has a sleuth you will!fall in love with. Enjoy!

A Hitchcock Ending

Rex and Helen are delightful and so familiar. Those qualities along with the setting promote that "cozy" feeling. The red herring characters and twist at the end made the reading enjoyable. I recommend the. book for a quiet snowy weekend read.
