About the Author
USA Today calls Christy Barritt’s writing “scary, funny, passionate, and quirky.” Her mystery and romantic suspense novels have sold half a million copies, won the Daphne du Maurier Award for Excellence in Suspense and Mystery, and were twice nominated for the Romantic Times Reviewers’ Choice Award. Christy was born in Virginia and, while she has been writing since she was very young, she’s also sung at local coffeehouses and was a newspaper journalist for ten years. Her husband is a children’s pastor, and together they have two adorably handsome sons.

Great book

This book starts out when Savannah's husband and young daughter were killed when the car Savannah was supposed to drive blew up and killed them. So far, there were no leads as to the killers. During her sorrow, Savannah moved to a house on an acreage where she could be alone and feel safe. She lived near, and helped out with migrant workers, and one of the women from there came to get her to see her father before he died from cancer, so she went to the hospital to see him. He whispered to her that he was being murdered and wanted her to find out who did it. From there on, a series of events kept happening - her cell phone disappeared, her best friend was found beat up and in serious condition, a note appeared in her house, and she felt someone was trying to hurt her.
A very nice man came to answer an ad she had put in the paper and wanted to rent her carriage house. He was there to find out who had killed his wife, and they started working together to find the killers. Savannah had once been an investigative reported and was know for her stories and her reporting, but since the accident, she had gone to writing or editing books.
People from the migrant camp had disappeared and no one even tried to find them, as they thought they had gone back to Mexico. One of those was a good friend of Savannah and she knew she would not have left without telling her.
Savannah noticed a man following her, and saw someone in the woods spying on her, which bothered her a lot. The man in her carraige house,Clive, helped her and was trying to keep her safe. In the meantime, they were falling in love. The killer would leave a flattened penney at the scene of each incident.
Savannah and Clive worked on finding out why the workers were disappearing and also many were getting very sick. This book is exciting all the way through, but gets really intense close to the end.
I highly recommend this book to everyone. It will keep you on the edge of your seat, and it has a surprise ending.

A Not To Be Missed Mystery

Savannah Harris has come to the coastal area of Virginia to escape. She wants to escape the heartache of her past, but she cannot escape the guilt she feels for the part she thinks she played in the deaths of those she loved. She has given up on the idea of a loving God. Now, all she wants is to be left alone. Her best and only friend, Marti, will not let her be completely alone. Marti lives to help others – migrant farm workers, those in her church, and Savannah. When Marti convinces Savannah to take a boarder, Clive, Savannah’s world can no longer stay isolated. Clive also wants solace, but he is also looking for answers to the mystery surrounding his wife’s death. When some of the migrant farm workers begin to disappear, Marti is alarmed. When Savannah is summoned to the deathbed of a worker who tells her that he has been murdered, she becomes concerned. Savannah and Clive find Marti with an empty pill bottle and a suicide note. Savannah is convinced that Marti would never do this. As Marti is left is a comma, Savannah begins to wonder if all these events are connected. As Clive delves deeper into the circumstances surrounding his wife’s death, perhaps there is someone who is responsible for all the trouble.
This is the first book I have read by Christy Barritt. I don’t intend for it to be my last. She weaves a nailbiting mystery. The area of Virginia/Maryland is well described. The mystery surrounding the migrant workers is unique with quite a few surprising twists and turns. There are also some good issues addressed about the plight of these farm workers. If you are looking for an exciting, clean mystery, this is the book for you.

A Great Mystery!

Christy Barritt does a good job at keeping her readers guessing as she is a master at creating mysteries and romantic suspense that will capture any true mystery lover. Dubiosity is a story of redemption and learning to move on from past mistakes that any reader could sympathize with.
Christy Barritt’s prose and dialogue flowed smoothly. When the readers were following Savannah’s point of view, we understand her fears, doubts, and struggles. Barritt’s scenes flow from one person to the next without getting lost in the plot. I followed the story from scene to scene without losing my place at all.
As for the characters of Savannah and Clive, I truly enjoyed them. Savannah, as an ex-reporter, was a character that I could empathize with. Savannah was a bruised and broken character who lived with the choices from her past. On the other hand, Clive was a wonderful hero, who slowly knocked down the walls around Savannah’s heart. He patiently waited for her to come around and know what a wonderful man he was, even though there are dark skeletons in Clive’s closet too. Savannah and Clive grow and develop spiritually and emotionally as individual while the tension piles higher and higher as the book progresses.
As for the tension and pace of the mystery, it started off with a bang. Barritt grabs your attention at the end of the first chapter with a cliff-hanger that spurs the tension throughout the rest of the plot. The suspense slowed down in the middle of the story as Savannah and Clive tried to follow the evidence. Luckily for the reader, there was a satisfying ending with a moment of doubt for Savannah’s safety while worrying if she would survive or not. I would recommend the book to anyone who wants to lose themselves for a couple hours in a mystery.
Christy Barritt writers another mystery with humbled characters on the hunt for the truth, both spiritually and realistic, while risking their own lives. The tension of the mystery will keep the readers turning the pages, but the characters of Clive and Savannah will draw the readers back to the story as the readers will want to know what happens between them romantically. Another mystery hit out of the park by Christy Barritt.
