This read like I was watching it on a big screen

One word. Movie. This read like I was watching it on a big screen. I am a Sisavath fan, I won't deny that. But this took that up a notch. There are only a few authors that I HAVE to read the next thing they write, regardless of genre or what the book is. Sam Sisavath has been added to that list. And this book did it.
Strong lead character. Strong antagonist. Great supporting characters. Non-stop action. Flows smoothly between action and introspection. Great scenes. Strong character development. You even start caring about the bad guy. You still want a nice ending, but you don't expect to get it.
Highly recommend this book. Highly recommend that if you are new to Sam Sisavath, you can start here. It's a great intro to his style. Nothing heavy, don't need to go backwards in a series to catch up. Start here. Then go read his other work. You will not be disappointed.

Enjoy the Ride

I received this as a ARC book and will say up front that I am a fan of this author. But even if you don't know this author, you will enjoy this fast paced great rollercoaster ride of a book! It is pretty much non-stop action with some definite up and downs for the heroine as she tries to exact her revenge. The background for why she wants revenge is revealed in bits and pieces throughout the book and provides a clear picture. This book bypasses the build up and puts you right in the middle of the action and you won't be able to put it down until you read the finale! I had a bit of an issue with how the "villain" begins to act after the first twist, but then again, I probably don't want to understand the mind of a serial rapist/killer.

Short, but full of excitement

It was above average - but it had many plot holes. Expect to spend about 2-hours reading this, it's quite short. That isn't a good thing or a bad thing, it just is. The best thing about this novel is that it is almost 100% non-stop action. From the first few pages until the end, it's full of action. This is also the problem with the book. You really don't know much about the characters, the setting, or the back story.
In many ways, this was a huge dis-service to the reader as I think the story had a lot more to offer. Many reviewers have pointed out that this story would make a great movie - I agree. If you like reading relatively short books that are long on action, then this is for you.
