A scary, but amazing scenario

A fun read about apocalyptic events that happen right now, not tomorrow. I was often stunned by this book: The oddball characters that I came to care about a lot. The backdrop of earth shattering events. The tech that seemed like magic, but was extrapolated straight from today's news. The plot twists that came one after another, and sometimes floored me. If you think you know what this book is all about by Chapter 10, just wait. As I came near the end, all of my expectations about what would happen were blasted. Yet the final ending was satisfying. It seemed perfect.
So is this current day science fiction? Yes and no. Is it a thought provoking religious epic or idea book? Partly, but very different than you may think. Is it a suspense filled story that hooks you again and again, so that you can't put it down? To be sure. But sometimes I was almost too scared for the characters to keep reading.
A lot of smart people believe we are approaching a "singularity", or true explosion in speed of technological advances as well as in social and political changes. I realized that this book shows just one imaginative way that it all could play out. As we see, the real world is likely to become incredible and scary for all of us sooner than we would like, but it also holds unbelievable potential for awesome things.

Technology out of control, in the wrong hands

High Tech machines capable of individual thought and emotion in the hands of a select few with their own agendas combined with transgender individuals trying to sort out truth from hoax all combine to make one of the most thought provoking novels I have ever read. The book is well written and the use of high tech electronics and science is extremely well researched.
While this novel is fiction, it is thought provoking when you consider the advances being made in science and engineering today. Like George Orwell's novel "Nineteen Eighty-four" it cries out for mankind to be watchful that we don't allow unscrupulous people to use potential technology for their own purposes and to take over our way of life.
I particularly liked the excerpts by Diana, from the fictional "Book of Life" which headed the beginning of each chapter. These 79 quotes could, in my opinion, stand alone as a short inspirational book. Considering that that the Diana quotes are original thinking, straight from the mind of the author, is extraordinary.

different than anything on the market right now; different than anything you have read!

It took me quite a while to read this book, because I always have several books "in progress". In addition, I have not been reading any fiction at all for several years, so it was a bit of a mental switch for me to start reading this book.
Yes, it is quite lengthy and that might be daunting for some, but not me. I was only a couple pages into it before I was gripped by "what's going to happen next?". That feeling lasted throughout the book!
Somewhat apocalyptic? Yes! And it had just about every element of fiction I can think of somewhere in the book!
The character development was excellent, and there were a lot of unique characters that the author was working with!
There is a lot of dialogue in this book, but I have to say that it is very well done and I don't see how the book could have been written without a great deal of dialogue.
I recommend this book highly, but don't plan on finishing it in one night or even two nights!
Definitely a fun read!
