About the Author
Lindsay’s first success as a writer was her sixth grade Thanksgiving play, about a plucky Pilgrim girl and her wise-cracking pet turkey. She has since written for Glamour, Harper’s, Mademoiselle, and the L.A. Times Magazine, notably doing the PlayboyInterview with the cast of Saturday Night Live. She is the author of the laugh-out-loud Dead Is The New Fabulous mystery series, starring the vintage-wearing, wise-cracking, animator-turned-sleuth Lucy Frampton, was twice a Sisters In Crime notable book and was adapted by Hallmark Channel as the movie The Hollywood Moms Mystery, starring Justine Bateman, Elizabeth Pena, and George Hamilton, with Lindsay serving as Executive Producer. Her most recent novel, The Producer’s Daughter, is a selection of The Book of the Month Club, The Mystery Writer’s Book Club, and the Literary Guild Book Club. She is also the author of the chilling suspense novel, Hide & Seek, a national bestseller that was translated into nine languages, and Everything We Wanted, a contemporary women’s fiction novel. Writing as Lindsay Graves, she’s also the author of the wickedly-funny The Ex-Wives series. Lindsay wrote for the Emmy-winning HBO suspense series The Hitchhiker and recently co-produced the movie Breaking at the Edge, a supernatural thriller starring Milo Ventimiglia, Rebecca Da Costa, and Andie MacDowell. Hysterically funny mystery novel

An hysterically funny mystery novel that's also surprisingly well-written. The main character, Lucy, is someone you'd want as a best friend, very funny, smart, a little off-beat, but down to earth as well. Also loved her sourpuss detective pal Terry Shoe. I don't usually read books i one sitting but I stayed up until two in the morning to finish it!

A fun read (skip the movie)

A fun book (but a horrible movie). I almost never read series out of order, but somehow I managed to pick up #3 first. Fortunately, it doesn't really matter with this series. I was interested throughout the book. It's a peak into Hollywood, but the protagonist is more like the soccer mom next door than she is the stereotypical shallow women obsessed with looks, power, and fame. Those roles are filled by the other Hollywood Moms. The characterizations ring true, even if depicting stereotypes. The plot keeps you involved with the story, from beginning to end. The pacing keeps a steady pace, with no dead spots or lulls. The locale plays a major role in the story, but is unfortunately rather shallow in this book. Fortunately, this improves by book 3.
I loved this book and happily I have another in the series to look forward to. After I read the book, I noticed that a TV movie had been made from it. Unfortunately, I watched the movie. The only good thing I can say about the movie is that it was only 90 minutes long. It's awful. Worse, it points out many of the weaknesses of the book. I didn't notice any of these while reading. The movie is so bad, they become glaringly obvious. So do yourself a favor, read athisand enjoy this book, skip the movie.

What a way to treat a lady....

Animation filmmaker Lucy Frampton has a fantastic life. She is married to a handsome producer and has a adorable nine year old daughter. Did I say she lives in a glamorous mansion? But one day when she comes home she finds a wannabe starlet floating dead in her swimming pool. When the Frampton's become suspects in the murder investigation, Lucy wants to clear their name's. But her husband gets a job and has to leave Lucy to face Ms. Shoe, the detective who has the eyes of a bad cop, and they are looking right at Lucy. Yes I enjoyed this Book 1 by Lindsay Maracotta and will go searching for more about Lucy. The Fabulously series is a hit with me.
