Don't wait for the movie version

There's a train wreck on the horizon. Can you look away? John House masterfully spins us into a world where horrible events are sure to unfold. After the first "event" the reader is left to wonder just how horrific this train wreck is going to be. I even wondered if I wanted to read about it because the nightmares of horror movies past all have the opportunities to rise from the ashes in this setting. But fortunately House pulls back a bit on the terror -- just enough to keep the reader from saying, "Too much," and leading us to go ahead and turn that next page even though "too much" is still out there. Does it arrive? How much is too much?
Four college "friends" take a hike on the Appalachian Trail. The weather is unpredictable. One student is a coddled homebody who has no business being on such a trip, but peer pressure always wins out. Besides with three other people, what could go wrong? In the middle of nowhere with help unavailable, we have the classic setting of "kids-in-the-horror-movie-with-a-killer-stalking-them."
I recommend "Trail of Deceit," if only to learn the original story as it was written because Hollywood is sure to beat a path to the authors door for this one.

Gut Wrenching Thriller, Highly Recommended

When the two young couples decide to go hiking on the Appalachian Trail, they find themselves ill-trained and ill-prepared. Things go terribly wrong within the first hours. One of the women is brutally raped, and although the others don't know it, one of the men is murdered. Now there are three, lost in the woods and pursued by a stalker, but things are worse than that.This disastrous situation is more than bad luck. Something truly evil has occurred as will be understood too late. The weather turns against them, and it seems doubtful any of the young people will survive. Even if one of them makes it back to civilization that person will be changed for ever.
Author John House writes a gut-wrenching thriller that will keep you reading frantically till the last page. Don't start this book unless you have some free time, because you won't be able to put it down. You will learn a lot about the mountains, the wilderness, good and evil, and the unlikely survival of desperate people. The writing is lucid and easy to follow. If you're looking for a relentless, fast-paced thriller, this is highly recommended. Reviewed by Louis N. Gruber.

BRILLIANT!!! SPELLBINDING!!!

If you like novels that you can't put down, novels that keep you guessing until the last page, then you won't want to miss "Trail of Deceit" by Dr. John C. House.
Two couples set out on a hiking trip along the Appalachian Trail. Diane and her boyfriend Bill have some hiking experience; Linda and Jerry, not so much. They agree to leave their cell phones behind. To add to the mix, one of the four has a hidden agenda that will greatly impact the lives of the other three.
For a short time, they enjoy the beauty and serenity of the Appalachian Trail that has overwhelmed thousands of nature lovers over the years, but everything is about to change. The four turn out to be unprepared for the danger that befalls them as a stalker in the form of an experienced woodsman enters the scene bringing first fear, then terror and eventually death onto the scene.
House demonstrates his brilliant story telling technique throughout the pages of "Trail of Deceit". He knows the challenges ot the AT and he shares these with his readers. His survival scenes are awe inspiring.
