Warzone is a great read. Alex, the heroine, is a cross between Sherlock Holmes and Bones. Her lack of social skills and her brilliance along with a sense of innocence making her an intriguing character. Cade, the hero, is a strong, yet damaged, military man. Brilliant!

Story assessment: Great entertaing read. A socially awkard genius paired with a vulnerable hero are the newest crime fighting team in this Amryn Cross series. Our female lead has weaknesses she has yet to identify while our male lead is all too aware of his own. Their interactions and growth were beautiful to see. I laughed, burned with righteous indignation, and said "amazing" at least as many times as Cade did. A law enforcement friend says the procedures are spot on. If not, they sure seemed authentic to me!
Technical assessment: As an avid reader I am painfully aware of the difficulty of giving a complete story with well developed characters in less than 200 pages. Some authors can't do so in even greater length. However, this story is brilliant in execution. Stunning characters with flaws and keen abilities are fully revealed with a tease for more. The story moves quickly but fully without seeming to be rushed. Resolution... but more out there? Can't wait for the next in this series. Amryn, please dont't make us wait long!!!

Intriguing!!!

This book hit the ground running and was one of the most intriguing I've ever read. Alex Holst solves crimes. And she is a certified genius. She can read people like a book. Cade is a conflicted person, just out of the military due to an injury in Afganistan. When Alex needs his help in solving a crime, he figures he might as well go ahead.
This book does not let up, the action continues to build until you feel like you're on a train hurtling along at breakneck speed downhill, about to crash! Fast paced, intriguing and characters that I may never figure out held my interest completely. Wow is not really a good enough word to describe this book. I loved it!
I am looking forward to more in the Alex Holst Files series.

Couldn't put it down.

I really enjoyed this author's first book and I really liked this one too. It is a really good mystery and suspense that pulls you into the story line and the lives of the characters from the first pages. It is also fun watching the interaction between the characters - Cade, a soldier home from Afghanistan, and Alexandria, a hard nosed smart detective. This is the first novella in a series, and I am definitely looking forward to the next installments.
