About the Author
Albert Clack was born in Brighton, England, in 1947; educated at Varndean Grammar School for Boys, Brighton; Bradford University (BA in French & Russian); and Sussex University (MA in International Relations). From 1969 to 2006 he was a journalist specializing in international reporting; working for Reuters News Agency for 17 years, and for ITN and other TV news companies for 20 years. As a foreign correspondent, he lived in France, Argentina, Yugoslavia, Cuba and Dubai. He is fluent in Spanish & French, and very rusty in Russian & Serbo-Croat. At the age of 59 he retrained as an actor, and has been working professionally as an actor since 2007. Stage credits include major roles in Shakespeare, Chekhov, Bernard Shaw & Oscar Wilde. In 2013 he appeared as Polonius in a four-week run of Hamlet at The London Theatre, which is what gave him the idea for this story. In 2014 he edited his late father’s WWII prisoner-of-war memoir, ‘My Underground War’.

I quite liked it

This book by a new author has a lot going for it; a good mystery, an interesting setting and full and detailed characters. The three investigations going on simultaneously are all neatly wrapped up by the last page. I do want to read more, and hopefully Mr. Clack has plans for another.
A quibble, though -- I do hope that he cuts back on the description a bit. I don't need to know every single detail of what every person that flits through this pages is wearing, or what type and style of furniture he or she owns, the color and fabric, etcetera, etcetera. On a Kndle this kind of overkill gets old very fast. And I wanted to get to the denouements of what really were exciting and taut mysteries, with good, old-fashioned police work behind them all.
For fans of British police procedurals, this is a good one. I look forward to more.

An excellent British mystery that will keep you guessing

I love British mysteries and this one didn't disappoint. A murder that couldn't happen but did. The murderer comes as a complete surprise. Several sub plots. All tied up by the end. Engaging characters that you want to know better. Will not disappoint.

Bunny?!?!

This book goes into quite a bit of detail about Warren, but it doesn't mention (unless I missed it) why his nickname is Bunny. Bit strange that one. Also, I don't know much about British law, but don't they have such a thing as a statute of limitations on certain crimes? 50 years would seem to be a long time to keep something on the books unless it was murder. All in all, it was a fairly interesting book, and I liked the football references. I would say that in trying to tie together so many threads, it became unnecessarily convoluted.
