Well written with complex characters and lots of action and mystery

Full of twists and turns, High Crimes is an intertwining and engrossing read. Set in Ireland, twenty stories in the air, the operator of a construction site is, literally, a Peeping Tom.
Tommy's victims are quite different. The men and women he watches have strange habits. Soon, watching is not enough. Tommy begins to record and follow them, and then insinuate himself into their lives.
What is set in motion is a change of events that brings murder, love, and a cold case to the surface. The story has so many crazy twists and turns it kept me flicking pages just to get to the next revelation.
The author does an amazing job of interweaving this tale. Well written with complex characters and lots of action and mystery.

Delights the Reader and Adds to Dublin's Literary Heritage

David Lawlor's crime thriller comes out of Dublin to delight the reader and add to that city's literary heritage. It's a work of original genius. Here's why I'm awarding it five stars: (1) Superhuman setting and narrator: An evil genius, a high-tech crane operator, manipulates lives and wreaks petty revenges. (2) Innocent victims, luxury high-rise occupants, feel free (3) Irony, both comedic and tragic, is dished out like a feast (3) Complicated plot intertwines characters who don't know they're united (4) Social issues (drug abuse, child abuse, marital portrayal, Alzheimer's) are realistically portrayed (5) Earthly villain: a bad priest is exposed, hunted down and justice is done. What makes this book an exceptionally entertaining, intriguing read is that the roles of victim, detective, villain are switched, with characters often being both, or all three, at once.

Guaranteed to keep you up all night!

At the pinnacle of the Celtic Tiger's success, Dublin's skyline sets the scene for David Lawlor's page turner "High Crimes". High above the city overlooking some luxury apartment blocks in Dublin's docklands sits a pervert crane driver who really loves his job. The story of how the stalked victims lives become intertwined with those of paedophiles, junkies, artists, Gardaí and state representatives will enthral readers right to the bitter end. The story and it's characters pulled me completely into their worlds to such an extent that I have to give this thriller 5 stars. Although the storyline is totally different, the rapid pace of the book and its many characters reminded me of the film "Intermission" I can see this story making its way to the big screen and being just as successful. I hope to read more from this author again soon.
