Good story
By JANA GUNDY
I like the action and mystery, it's what keeps the story line moving but I'm getting tired of the wishy washy romance. She needs to pick one or none and move on. John is definitely the one for her but she is just too stubborn to admit it and after nine books, it's hard to keep reading it.

Aydan is a total Mary Sue that’s getting worse.
By Tammi
I’ve really liked this character in the past, but it’s come to an end. Not even one year on the spy scene and everyone trusts her with his/her secrets; secrets so devastating lives could be changed or lost should they find the light of day. This is the same Aydan who acknowledged within the first two books of the series that she would easily break under torture.

I didn’t understand all the mad love Aydan was getting from Stemp’s parents. I don’t understand what they saw in her given the limited nature of their dealings, initially. Aydan came across as messed up and surly towards the commune’s objectives. She also wasn’t particularly caring or friendly to the communes’s inhabitants.

Aydan is a forty-seven year old woman with beefcake galore panting after her. She’s had a hysterectomy, yet has sex on a dime…with condom…additional lube unnecessary. I’ll be forty-seven this year. I’ve had a hysterectomy, and I’d be too battered and bruised to handle one guy multiple times in a day. I’m just saying, we’re not as young or juicy as we used to be. If I didn’t know better, I’d swear the hysterectomy was a plot device included to avoid addressing a monthly visitor during covert ops.

I have to question who the character of John might represent in reality. If I hadn’t been forced to care about him over several books, it wouldn’t be so bad. Aydan’s inability to settle on what she wants from John really confuses me. I’ve wondered if there is an ex somewhere deserving of this character’s torture. John may have pushed for more than Aydan was willing to give, but come on…really? This poor guy gets unequivocally emasculated in this story.

The inclusion of John in this story was ridiculous (exception: the initial threesome encounter was funny as hell). It was like having a soon-to-be ex-husband holding you down as he cuddled his new girlfriend on the other side of the bed. He only did it so he could keep an eye on you.

Is it selfish for an ex to keep you safe while he has his cake? Would your girlfriends think you were cool for sharing his bed under those circumstances? Would you think it grand to go off with the ex’s girlfriend for a harem holiday? I was horrified that a female character would pull such a hurtful, insensitive act in order to satisfy her own need for comfort.

Aydan should just let poor, suffering John go on his way. She should stop worrying about him, lusting after him, partnering with him. Set him free and don’t back down. I’m having major flashbacks from the Anita Blake series—which was my first intro to the concept of a Mary Sue.

Aydan and Arnie’s relationship is the only one that never rings false. Every other relationship in Aydan’s life just seems to be an uncomfortable or forced fit.

Excellent Spy Thriller/Romance Series!
By Flora Fan
I love this series! I got the first one as a free book and enjoyed it so much that I actually paid $4.99 for each subsequent one all the way to the end of the series - current end; there is another coming out later this year (2015). I seldom pay for Kindle ebooks and certainly not for eight in a row, but these grabbed me. The heroine is appealing in many ways. She is older - 47. She is kind of a tomboy/athlete: drinks beer, fixes cars, hates to dress in girly clothes. She falls into being an undercover spy person through her computer skills, but she carries some PTSD from a bad marriage and other unpleasant occurrences. This book combines spy thriller elements like super weapons, advanced technology and heartless villains with good juicy romance themes like lots of emotional angst over her own inadequacy, two or three sexy male applicants (or supplicants) for her affections, the ditzy, girly BFF and a couple of guy friends. Her characters are believable in a larger-than-life way. Henders does a good job of balancing the two sides, although the books are probably a little too romantic for the standard thriller reader. There is the standard high body count with non-fatal injuries to the protagonists and last minute rescues, but it is well written and good fun.
